Meet the Artist: 30.11.2023 16–19h
24.11.–2.12.2023 Tue–Fr 11–18h, Sat 11–16h

For her last exhibition of the year, Maria Legat has attempted to give testimony to the year. The title piece of the exhibition, a large-format work typical of the artist, is titled "Jahreszeugnis" (Annual Report) and encourages reflection on several levels.

Juggling currently plays a central role in Maria Legat's artistic work. It relates both theoretically and practically to innovations in her work: on the one hand, it is about developments in content, namely the attempt to deal with the apparent responsibility that a constant statement on the state of the world entails. On the other hand, it is about her own liberation as a painter from self-imposed boundaries, such as those between figuration and abstraction, precision and the ephemeral, in order to overcome this enclosure in her work.

Maria Legat now keeps more distance from the narrative to generate volume with abstraction, in which viewers can increasingly contribute their own imagination.
An artistic development that seems to entail an increasing complexity of world events. She juggles different techniques and stylistic devices within the canvas, making the theme of juggling visible to us viewers. We see juggling structures and people, a playful approach to challenges, of which there are many.

	Opening: 11.10.2023 18h

11.–15.10.20224.–18.11.2023
Tuesday through Saturday, 12.00–19.00& by appointment

ART and FASHION
The artist Patrizia Bertassi and the designer Yara-Yvon Bertassi developed The ART EDITION together in 2022.

In addition to her large works of art, Patrizia Bertassi also creates smaller embroidered patterns in geometric and floral shapes. Daughter Yara-Yvon Bertassi digitized them and used textile printing processes. The designer then developed simple cut blouses and turned her mother's works of art into wearable fashion.

The artist Patrizia Bertassi uses a variety of symbols in her embroidery. All of her works are created in an open process. The elaborately embroidered works invite you to immerse yourself in another world. Associations and feelings arise, fantasies form. A dialogue between artwork and viewer is established.

         Special event 8.9.2023, 18h
Publication presentation and unveiling of new artworks.Artist in conversation with curators Adriana Belay & Nicole Sheyerer.

Join us for the presentation of Zlatan Vehabović's new artworks, complimentary of his publication 'An Atlas of the Lesser World,' published by the Museum of Arts and Crafts Zagreb. This intimate publication presentation follows his homonymous exhibitions at the National Museum of Modern Art Zagreb and the Museum of Fine Arts Split.

Drawing from his unique sensibility and expressive style, often characterized by a narrative approach and collage methodology, Vehabović embarked on his artistic journey using the museum's vast collection of over a hundred thousand digital records. The outcome of this approach is a series of conceptually and formally layered compositions, where the intricate connections and processes preceding the painting’'s creation become distinctly visible. Furthermore it showcases the exceptional skill and consistent visual language for which Vehabovic has long been recognised.

Our aim is to offer you an extraordinary art gathering that enables a genuine connection with Zlatan Vehabović — one of the most captivating artistic voices of our era. You'll also have the opportunity to engage directly in moderated discussions with curators Adriana Belay and Nicole Scheyerer, delving deeply into the development of Contemporary Art.

Nomad's social and cultural mission is to establish a platform that contributes to the co-creation and promotion of contemporary cultural dialogue. Our ultimate goal is to shape the market for regional artists in Central Europe, fostering enduring cohesive networks in the process.

Zlatan Vehabović, based in Zagreb, was born in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1982. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts Zagreb, where he is currently also teaching. Noteworthy exhibitions include MoCA Zagreb, MoMA Zagreb, MoFA Split, MoMA Dubrovnik, Stadt Museum Mainz, and the Center for Contemporary Art Hudson Valley. His works are homed in collections such as the Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb, Albertina Modern Vienna, European Central Bank Art Collection Frankfurt, European Parliament Collection Brussels, Erste Fragments Zagreb, Lauba Foundation Zagreb, Maistra Collection Rovinj, and Eileen S. Kaminsky Family Foundation New York.

0,00001 Lux – RAPHAEL HAIDER

Bastian Gehbauer's series Phantasma (2022) is an archival work evolved from photographs of the estate of Berlin-based modernist architect Harry Rosenthal.

The photographs are of a studio house, built for the literary figure Arnold Zweig and completed in 1931, a building that no longer exists.

A Nazi general named Kaupisch, had the entire structure transformed in 1938 to eliminate the Jewish modernist "eyesore," as he called it. By that time, the architect and owner of the building had already fled Germany because of their Jewish ancestry.
For Bastian Gehbauer, Rosenthal's negatives went from being a contemporary document to a portal, an entrance into an extinct place, a bygone era. Similar to a door, he cut portrait formats out of the landscape-format negatives, directing the gaze to what seemed essential to him. He made a picture within a picture.
